Because your small donation makes a big difference!
In January 2009, two Engineers Without Borders – USA chapters were founded in Jacksonville – the Jacksonville Professionals Chapter and the University of North Florida Student Chapter. Over the last 12 months, both of these organizations have flourished through leadership, projects and fundraising.
The Jacksonville Professionals Chapter’s Kick-Off meeting in January 2009 attracted nearly 70 interested attendees, many of whom went on to become founding members of the chapter. The first Executive Board of the Jacksonville Professionals Chapter was formed in March 2009 and worked to build the membership and recognition of the organization. They organized several meetings with presentations about potential projects, and formed sub-committees for marketing, fundraising and projects. A new Executive Board was elected in December 2009 and will lead the chapter through December 2010.
The Jacksonville Professionals Chapter adopted two projects in Guatemala and sent two members on an assessment trip in September 2009. Both Guatemala projects were successfully implemented in May 2010 and provided clean water to impoverished schools. The Chapter continues to work in the Nebaj region of Guatemala on a water supply project.
In November 2009, the Jacksonville Professionals Chapter hosted a wine tasting event with the Florida Water Environment Association (FWEA), the Florida Section of the American Water Works Association (FSAWWA) and Rotary District 6970, which raised over $18,000 for water projects in Guatemala.
With such positive momentum and progress, we would like to invite you to join us and maximize the positive impact we can have on the world!
